Scholarships

Week Seven

Hey, Juniors and Sophomores! Seniors, this may be a little too late for y'all, but you never know. Anywho, listen up!

  1. Raise.me is a helpful, user-friendly website that allows you to build your high school transcript and gain money for every course you get an A in or sport you letter in, and more!

  2. Interested in a specific college? Look at their website! They may have a list of scholarships/websites they use for financial aid, and can be VERY beneficial for you!

  3. Have an idea of what you want to major in? Look it up! Lots of scholarships are available per a specific field.

  4. Her Campus suggests a list of 10 websites to look at: zinch.com, fastweb.com, scholarshippoints.com, cappex.com, scholarships.com, College Board's scholarship search, nextstudent.com, studentscholarship.org, scholarshipexperts.com, and supercollege.com. Be sure to check out your options.

  5. One last thing: the difference between grants, loans, and scholarships. Loans are where you borrow money from the government/bank to go to college and pay only interest on it until you get a job, in which case you pay back what you borrowed plus interest. Grants are where you "granted" money through a corporation, the government, or other source. You don't have to pay it back. Same for scholarships, although scholarships are less inclusive than grants.

Scholarships are a big help when it comes to college, so be sure to know what you want and your options. It's a lot of work and research, but totally worth it. Happy hunting!
