Many thought that UME Prep was a small school that was not good for anything and only fit a small amount of people. The school started off with a small building in Duncanville which was then moved in 2012 to the current building, now called the Dallas campus.

In 2016 the Duncanville campus was added for grades K-5 so that more students were able to attend UME.  However, because the Dallas campus is crowded because the grade levels go from K-12, many high school students complain that they don't have their space. Thusly, the future of UME has been talked about between the board and the administration to make it better for the elementary and high school students. Their decision: build another building for the high school on Dallas campus. This will benefit both schools by giving the high school students their space and the smaller kids will have more classrooms.

When Paula Hernandez, a UME student, saw the blueprints in the front office, she said,“Yes, finally we can be a regular high school and start our own traditions without the smaller kids.” Many students said the same since they have been sharing with the smaller kids for a long time. However Maria Labastida, a parent, said, “Wow, this is so cool. This will allow more space for students to attend UME.”

Therefore, the future of UME will benefit the school, students, and teachers by hiring more teachers, enrolling more students, and as a result the school will receive more money. The future is yet to come in 2019.
