2017 is already here! And what better way to start this new year by talking about the best (and worst) in the year 2016.

At UME Preparatory Academy, everything is underway for its first senior class graduation to take place in May 2017. We will say farewell to the first senior class of UME Prep. 2016 has brought four different performances to UME Prep. In January 2016, UME Prep presented A Night of "Broadway: All the Best Musicals". In April 2016 two theatrical productions were produced: "Androcles and the Lion", and "Hush Little Celia, Don’t say a Word". In November 2016, UME presented its latest performance, "About Love: Lessons from Broadway". At the night of the event, UME Prep’s theater teacher, Kendra Cordero  said, “I am very proud to have our first senior class be a part of tonight’s performance.”

Another big event of the year was the presidential election between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. This was one of the most tension-raising events of the year. Although both candidates had good motives, the best candidate would be chosen based on how many votes he or she has. “If you’re going to vote for anyone, vote for Trump,” UME parent, Shonna Ingram, said. In the end, Donald Trump was victorious. He is now president of the United States.Even though, Donald Trump had won the presidency, many people have argued that Hillary Clinton would be better, so we would have our first female president.
