UNTIL GRADUATION

The final two weeks of your senior year in high school are approaching. The outside world calls you to take your next step in life. The level of stress is so high that it is insane. All you can think about is graduation. There are just a few short weeks separating a senior from the end of high school homework, which is awesome.

However, at the same time, a senior has some fears and stress. One of the things that high school seniors might fear before they graduate might be leaving their parents.  There are many things that will cross a senior’s mind as they are prepare to graduate from high school. One example of stress is the scariest feeling knowing that mom and dad are not going to be in the same house to help solve your problems and make them go away.

The second level of stress will be deciding your next step in life after you graduate high school. If you are planning to attend college, what will college be like, you wonder? How will you survive four years in college?

My mother attended college, so I asked her about her stress level during her transition from high school senior to a freshman in college. She said, “I stressed about getting into my dream college.” She also said that she had doubts and many young people struggle with a lack of faith in themselves. A senior may fear that they won’t do well without their parents' constant guidance and presence. In high school, parents were always available to back them up. It could be scary not having parents to ask advice at any time.

Before graduation, another fear that a high school senior has is getting a high enough grade point average. Being a high school senior is not easy as you reach graduation. Although it is a senior’s last year in high school, they still have to strive to make good grades, if they wish to obtain financial aid for college or getting into the school of they want.  Getting good grades on your transcript is extremely important as well.  Colleges want good grades.

During those last few weeks as we prepare to graduate, it is important for a high school senior to handle the stress and finish strong. The celebration on graduation night will be worth it.
