So Long, For Now

Week Eleven

We are just a few days away from UME’s first senior class graduation, summer break, and the start of a new year. Looking back on the year, I have only one last piece of advice to give you all: time management. I know it’s a general area, but there is a way to keep track of yourself and your time. First, make a list. What tasks do you need to get done that day/week? Write it down. Prioritize them, if that helps. What needs to get done first? Second, budget your time. Make a spreadsheet, or simply a schedule. For example, “Wake up by 9, be ready for the day by 10, homework by 11, lunch at 12, chores from 1-3, and the rest of the day is yours!” Keep track of your time and what you have to do, and you will be relaxed and ready to roll for school next year! You can eliminate stress and sorrow if you can have good time management. I hope you have enjoyed this year in TIPS, and I hope you’ll join us next year!

One tip I give to our graduating seniors, is to remember who you are.  Don’t lose yourself in college.  College can be stressful, and time consuming,  but you need to stay true to who you are! Don’t ever give up on yourself, you were made for amazing things! Everyone is so proud at how far you have come! Thank you for being UME’s FIRST graduation seniors!

This one is for incoming freshman… Welcome to high school! By now you probably have everything figured out, right? Maybe not… but you’re ready to take the bull by the horns, aren’t you? Well… there’s a couple things I’ve learned throughout my first 3 years of high school, and these are things you should know… First, be the real you. Don’t ever change for people. It may seem easier to change in order to fit in, but you will not find yourself to be very happy. Please, take it from me. I’ve learned it the hard way. Second, make wise choices. Your choices affect everyone around you, and often you won’t realize the depth of impact your choices make. Along with that, be aware of the choices others are making. You don’t want to get wrapped up in it, but you also don’t want to condone it. Just be careful. Lastly, have fun! Do not deny yourself of opportunities that are extended to you. I entered journalism class this year and I did everything in my power to get myself out, but it’s turned into my favorite class! If you learn to embrace the good, you WILL be much happier! Goodbye for now, and good luck in the big bad world of high school! (Just kidding… for the most part ;)
