“Change is inevitable,” said belated Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Benjamin Disraeli. These wise words sum up the student body´s thoughts as UME enters into its sixth year. Change has come in the form of an absence as we say goodbye to our first senior class and prepare for a future without them.

Goodbye is always a bittersweet concept, but change is not always bad. Goodbyes lead to hellos and change can bring about exciting opportunities which would have otherwise been missed had we not been forced to adapt to our new circumstances. As our graduates say hello to the excitement of college and entering into the world as adults, the rest of us say hello to a new era of UME Preparatory Academy.

Although we will miss our senior friends, the prospect of a fresh start is enticing. New leadership among the student body will determine UME’s future, and even though the idea is daunting, we are most definitely up for the challenge. UME is choosing to move forward and look to the future rather than dwell in the past and continue to do what we have always done. There is an excitement in the air as students walk down the halls of UME, wondering what will happen next and anticipating the opportunities the upcoming year will bring.

In the words of the infamous Marilyn Monroe, “People change so you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you can appreciate them when they're right, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.”
