Pro Athletes pave the way for UME

Many UME athletes are inspired by pro athletes this season in all sports. Pro athletes are inspirational people to look up to you in your sport. From gold medalists to small town heroes, UME athletes look up to these prodigies.

   

UME takes sports seriously with a side of satire as senior Stephen McConnell says he is inspired by Michael Phelps as “he is the best tennis player I know.” Even though McConnell is not educated on ESPN, he still gets pushed by his favorite olympian. 

    

Others took this topic to heart when talking about their favorite pro. Sophomore Makinley Eddlemon said with bright eyes that her favorite

players were Jennie Finch, David Murphy, and Mike Fisher. They are her favorite because: “They're all very public about their faith and put their family first over the sport. They also don't flaunt their money or fame.” This sincere take on the pro athletics inspire athletes, to stick to their roots and blossom in their faith.

 

Senior Logan Barker pondered the subject for a bit then said, “Hmm I would say, Dirk Nowitzki, because he is dedicated to basketball.” Dedication is a striving trait all athletes want to have and is something Barker takes seriously.

   

Pro athletes are important in today’s society because it pushes high school students to conquer new heights in their athletic career.
