Coaches' Wives

Balance Life

and Sports

Written by JT

Coaching sports isn’t always easy, but a coach can always have someone to look up to: his wife. A coach's wife can be his helper and have the same benefits as being a coach. A coach’s wife can also be a inspiration to the young sport players.

Football wife Jenna Braddock shares what life for her is like being a coach's wife. Her husband works really hard as a coach, making it harder to find time to spend together, especially in the fall. This means he is unable to help out both at home and on the field. She says,“Our time together as a family (not at a football event) is limited during football. I struggle with this sometimes because it can be lonely.”

However, being a coach's wife has its blessings. She knows that she can often help out her husband whenever needed. She believes in her husband, and she is part of a coaching family with her husband and children. She also knows the fun of being a coach’s wife by participating in the sport with her husband.

Being a coach’s wife can be just as exciting as being a coach. A coach’s wife can be supportive and help out when needed. A coach’s wife also helps a coach’s children get to a game on time. UME’s Caralyn Ignatz says “Being a coach’s wife means lots of late nights. Lots of working out at the gym.  And lots of screaming in school spirit.”
