A REVIEW OF LA LA LAND

2016 may not have been the best year, but it did generate some amazing movies. Among these glorious films included fan favorites like Zootopia, Captain America: Civil War, and The Arrival. With so many great movies released this year, it was hard to determine which film was the greatest of the year. After much research and consideration, the movie chosen was the December release known as “La La Land.”

Starring a number of household names like Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, John Legend and J.K. Simmons, La La Land is a musical about characters Sebastian (Ryan Gosling) aiming to keep jazz alive, while Mia (Emma Stone) tries to attain her lifelong dream of becoming a famous Hollywood actress, all with them crossing paths and their lives changing forever (see photo above). La La Land is a tribute to some of the best musicals such as: Singing in the Rain, Meet Me in St. Louis, and The Sound of Music.

La La Land has amazing cinematography, and the colors were vibrant and beautiful. The musical scenes were filmed in one constant shot making it feel like you were watching an old musical. The movie also has outstanding musical numbers, which is important for a musical. I give this movie 10/10 musical notes and I definitely recommend that you see this movie.
