GET OUT AND GO SEE THIS FILM!

Written by Jonathan Villanueva

Many relationships last for a very long time and actually hold up and others fall apart for some reasons. However for the ones that actually hold get to certain stages throughout the relationship like holding hands meeting friends, moving in, and one major one is meeting the parents.

Whether it's the girlfriend or boyfriend, they have to and try to impress the mom and dad to show that they are good enough for their son or daughter. Sometimes the meeting of the parents or even family doesn't go as well and they end up disliking each other.  In this case, that's what the movie “Get Out” is about. The movie is based on a Mystery/ Thriller type of movie and is really suspenseful. However the movie is based on a biracial relationship with characters named Chris and Rose.

The story line to the movie is that Rose takes Chris to meet her parents for the first time for a weekend getaway with them. He then learns that the many of the residents were African Americans and mysteriously went missing. He wants to find out why. He finds himself with man who warned him to get out and leave. He later finds out that Rose’s family is trying to get rid of him by torturing him and scaring him as well as trying to kill him. Therefore this is where the relationship goes wrong.

Kimberly Elias, a UME student said, “ I think it's a good movie because it brings out some major social issues.” Another student named Jackie Labastida said “ The movie looks scary to me because of how they are trying to get to that guy and it's way too suspenseful for me.”

Therefore this movie shows how some relationships don't work out, and how meeting the parents can go wrong. It also brings up a major social issues like hate and racism.
