Big Macs, McChickens, and McFlurries are some of the most popular things that people order from the famous fast food chain McDonald's. McDonald's is one of the most famous food restaurants in the world with franchises all over North America, and even in Australia and China. However, this restaurant franchise has become so popular that a film has been made to reveal how McDonald's became the curbside monopoly we all know of.

 

       The movie that was made is called The Founder, it is based on how the restaurant was made and how it was at the beginning to how it is right now. It all started with a salesman from Illinois who met Mac and Dick McDonald and saw how they system worked at their burger business.

 

Before McDonald's became big, it was a small burger operation, and when the salesman saw the way things were run he thought there was a franchise potential. When they then began to open up their business back in April 15, 1955 and make it bigger they would only sell hamburgers, fries, and soda. Now they sell a variety of products like chicken nuggets, smoothies, breakfast, and more.

 

       When Velma Labastida, a UME parent ,was asked if she had seen the movie, she said, “I have not seen the movie but my kids are fans of McDonald's and I’d get it for them every Wednesday and Friday after school.” This shows how McDonald's has grown rapidly in the past years and how it just keeps on being bigger and bigger. One fun fact is that the fast food chain started as a sophisticated place for the wealthy to eat until the theme no longer worked well, and it was changed it to a fast food restaurant chain.

       Therefore, the movie shows how the famous McDonald's went from a small business to a worldwide phenomenon.
