Many people around the world have heard of or seen the “Archie” comics, which has been around since 1939. It has become so popular that the stories have been redone into many TV shows and movies over the years. The latest portrayal of the comics is the new CW show, “Riverdale.” The first episode of “Riverdale” premiered January 26th and already has viewers wanting more.

Riverdale is a fictional town in which the “Archie” characters live. The show contains the classic comic characters such as Archie, Betty, Jughead, and Veronica. The show also walks the audience through the teenager’s adventures in Riverdale. The episode begins with the narrator, Jughead, explaining the mystery of Jason Blossom, who went missing on the river’s edge, leaving his sister Cheryl out in the cold. The show gives a very “Twin Peaks” feel, with the mysterious missing boy, and “Twin Peaks'” very own Madchen Amick, who plays Betty’s mom.

The rest of the debut episode introduces all the characters, shows their issues and their life in high school. The characters deal with love triangles, the choice to play football or pursue music, and dealing with mean cheerleaders. The characters are very unique, and they each have a story to tell. The cast is filled with new faces and old such as K.J. Apa, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, Luke Perry, Madchen Amick, and Cole Sprouse.

“Riverdale”, gives a lot of promise to audiences, and they are waiting to see where the show goes in the future. It is available to watch on the CW channel on Thursdays, and online at www.cwtv.com.
