The movie Fences was released December 26, 2016. Fences is a family movie. The movie takes place in mid-century Pittsburgh where the main character, hard working father Troy Maxson, played by Denzel Washington, once had a dream of being a major league baseball player. But he can't have it all. Taking care of a son and a wife, Corey and Rose Maxson, at a young age has put some years on this man.

Now that Troy Maxson is older, Major League is just now admitting African American players. The character tries to be a good husband and father, but the fact that he was not able to complete his dream is bothering him. It causes the character to make decisions that may tear his family apart.

In the movie trailer Corey Maxson asks his father why he doesn't like him? Troy Maxson replies, but as he is replying it shows small clips and flashes of their family arguing, and crying showing the small things that have happened. All this adds up to him saying. “I put food in your mouth right? You have clothes on your back right? Then I don't have to like you, son.”
