Danville, Kentucky--- A pair of robbers were caught planning a robbery on December 13, 2016, due to the accidental butt-dial of one of the suspects.

Suspects Robert Bourne and David Grigsby were reportedly planning to rob Brothers BBQ on a Saturday night. The two suspects had just finished dining at the restaurant and stepped outside to discuss the plan for the robbery. Unlucky for the suspects, when 911 was accidentally called the operator didn’t hang up.

UME Junior Michael Fowler says, “I feel that this is one the outcomes of being intoxicated.” As it turns out, Police Chief Tony Gray was at the restaurant at the time. Before the plan could be carried out the two were busted and charged with public intoxication.

UME Junior Kimberly Elias says, “I think all odds were against the two suspects.” Grigsby, one of the suspects, was also charged with disorderly conduct for having an open alcohol container in a car. Police also found a mask on one suspect, but didn’t find any weapons in the car.

UME Senior Andrew Graves says, “If you’re going to plan a robbery, make sure you do it well so you don’t get caught like that.” The owner of Brothers BBQ, Mike Southerland said he saw the two suspects walk out together. After that, Tony  got the call that Southerland had seen Tony’s police  uniform so he suspected something was going on.
