Black History Month Part 1

Black History Month Part 2

As Black History Month comes to an end, it's important to look at the leaders that were often labeled "Black militants." According to History.com, many African American groups and people went unnoticed throughout the history of America simply because they were considered black militants. According to Webster's Dictionary, the word militant means that they were combative in support of a political or social cause, favoring confrontational methods.

Under this definition, Malcolm X was one of those people. According to Bio.com, Malcolm X was a prominent black nationalist leader who served as a spokesmen for the Nation of Islam and also for the Black community during the 1950’s-60’s. Malcolm was a gifted man and a talented speaker. During the civil rights movement, his stand on the situation of racism was to end it “by any means necessary.”(As a reader, you  can interpret that how you want.)

One of the  teachers  at a Dallas school commented, “Mr.X was a huge contributor to the Black community  and I believe he should be recognized a lot more in the history books of America instead of just a paragraph.”

Although Malcolm X views didn't line up with other Black leaders' views, he served as a leader to many during the civil rights era. 2/25/17
