Should Schools Have Vending Machines?

A big issue in schools today are vending machines. Many big high schools have them, and they are used everyday by students and faculty. A majority of the people in the country say yes that schools should have them. Many of the issues are brought up are, the obesity rate would go up. These vending machines are usually loaded with snacks that aren’t healthy and good for you.

Many people argue that you can put what you want in those machines, but the real question is: “Why should schools allow vending machines?” When a poll was taken by Debate.org 75 percent of the people said yes to having a vending machine, while 25 percent said no way! There were answers that gave good points.

Some said that it all depends on what you put in the vending machine, others went to the extreme and said. “Kids cannot starve!” (Debate.org) While others said, “Vending machines are the same as school lunches.”

Vending machines are great for the people who forgot their lunch or don’t have the time to pack a lunch. They could also be useful to help aid the school in different departments. There could be one vending machine that sells drinks and the money that is collected can go towards funding the athletic department, and the other that sells snacks and can aid the theatre department. Vending machines can be a good asset to the school population.
